Logically Subnetting an IP-based Network
Logically subnetting a network is done by assigning each host the appropriate network and host IP address values and the correct subnet mask for the subnetwork the communications device is physically (or wirelessly) connecting to. This can be done manually or dynamically by implementing a Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) services on the network.
