 Course Description

This course enables students to understand the selection criteria of network devices and WAN technologies to meet network requirements. Students will learn how to configure and troubleshoot network devices and resolve common issues with data link protocols. Students will also develop the knowledge and skills needed to implement IPSec and virtual private network (VPN) operation in a complex network.

By successfully completing this course you will earn 3 units of college credit.

 Course Objectives

• Criticize basic concepts and terminologies related to Wide Area Networks (WANs)
• Construct a basic Frame Relay circuit with subinterfaces.
• Summarize SNMP standards and operation
• Design a Wide Area Network (WAN).
• Validate a "Port Address Translation" and PPP encapsulation configuration.
• Compare NAT and PAT features.
• Compare and contrast BOOTP and DHCP.
• Create and present a network design proposal.
• Select an appropriate LAN topology.
• Implement Quality of Service (QoS) and LAN security best practices on a network.
• Examine and implement "Virtualization" in a network.
